I really enjoyed working with Carlos. He was a kind man who cared about his staff and his students. I truly enjoyed getting to know him and working beside him for 7 years.

My dad truly loved what he did and he loved the students even more! He was always bragging about your accomplishments and ready to help the next kid. Thank you for setting up this scholarship, it’s one of the best ways to help continue his legacy. 💙
I remember the times I would come by the Service for Students with Disabilities office at Queensborough Community College, Carlos would always have a great big smile and that’s what makes me happy and gave me every reason to smile. Carlos was the fun- loving, inspirational, and kind mentor to me and every student who enrolled and/or graduated from QCC. I even remember the New York Mets games. Boy O’boy! Carlos was a huge Mets fan. If I ever go to see the Mets play again with my SSD at QCC family, I will know to save Carlos a seat.

Carlos and I started working together at the SSD office at QCC around the same time, which was 13 years ago. We shared many wonderful conversations about our children, the great outdoors, and his and my husband's love for the Yankees. Carlos was so full of wisdom and knowledge. Over the years, I heard nothing but great things about Carlos from our students. It was an honor to have known him. He will be missed. My sincere sympathies to the Herrera family.
Carlos was a great guy, friendly and whip smart. I always had engaging conversations with him whenever I saw him at a disability related or access events like the CUNY Accessibility Conference, which he was instrumental in organizing. He will be missed.
I was an undergrad at Lehman when Carlos was the Assistant Director of Disability Services. He encouraged me to be my authentic self and strive to overcome any adversity in life. My hear is truly heavy! Carlos Herrera was a mentor, trusted colleague, and friend!! S.I.P KING!
