Carlo's obituary

🕊️ Carlo Antonio Sioco: A Devoted Family Man and Faithful Servant

Carlo Antonio Sioco, a devout Christian, beloved husband, father, and son, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 5, 2025, in Calgary, Alberta, at the age of 43. He was surrounded by his loving family. Carlo's life was a testament to his faith, characterized by his unwavering devotion to his family, a joyful spirit, and a deep love for his community. He had recently realized his dream of moving his family to Canada in 2023 from his lifelong home of Parañaque, Philippines.

A Life of Joy and Faith

Born in Manila, Philippines, on April 26, 1982, Carlo spent his childhood with an adventurous and curious spirit. He loved to play the guitar, crank up the CD player loud with local Filipino bands like Eraserheads and Wolfgang, and metal and grunge legends Black Sabbath, Metallica, Soundgarden, and Nirvana. He also practiced martial arts, and enjoyed reading graphic novels.

Carlo was a patient, loyal, and loving brother, son, nephew, and cousin. He is remembered for his big heart. He would not hesitate to help if you needed a ride home, or make you laugh if you’re down, or simply share the shirt off his back.

He attended Colegio San Agustin – Makati before pursuing a degree in Political Science at the University of Santo Tomas.

Carlo had a distinguished career having worked at M& K Homes, PTT Philippines Corporation, Petron Corporation, and UNIOIL, among others. He was respected by his colleagues for his sharp instincts, reliability, sense of camaraderie, and drive.

Family and Legacy

Carlo’s greatest pride and source of joy was his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Lecil Sioco, and his two precious daughters, Maria Ysabelle Sioco (9) and Tiana Elisha Sioco (6), who were his world. He will be eternally remembered for his selflessness, his commitment to making every moment special for them, and his dedication to raising them in faith.

He is also survived by his loving parents, Leonardo Gabriel Sioco, Jr. and Maria Socorro Rosales Sioco; his three siblings, Jose Leonardo Sioco III (wife Ria Monica Valencia); Maria Carmela Sioco Borden (husband Joshua Tyler Borden); and Miguel Martin Sioco (girlfriend Sandy Cristobal); and his nieces and nephews, Micaela Sioco (7), Aleiah Cavite (7), Benjamin Borden (5), and Elijah Cavite (4 months).

Service Information

A memorial service will be held at 12:30 pm MST on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at Parallel Church Okotoks. A livestream will be available for those who cannot attend via Facebook Live (through Miguel Sioco's account).

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Pastor Tanisha Stromberg of Parallel Church for her steadfast leadership in helping the family through this difficult time; Father Matthew Emmelkamp and Deacon Rick Loftson of Saint Bernard’s Parish in Calgary; and to the doctors, surgeons, nurses of the Foothills Medical Centre Intensive Care Services for their exceptional medical care.
