Carla's obituary

Carla Schworer, of Las Vegas, Nevada, born on February 20, 1952 in Manila, Philippines, to the late Mary Foster Schworer and the late Donald V. Schworer, passed away at the age of 66 on February 10, 2019 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She is survived by her husband Alex McDonald and her 5 siblings. Carla attended the Montesano School, Gstaad, Switzerland and graduated from Princeton High School, Princeton, Jersey. She got her undergraduate degree at the University of Florida and her graduate degree at the Thunderbird School of Global Management in Phoenix, Arizona. Carla dedicated her life and career to humanitarian work. She spent time in Africa working for the Peace Corps dedicating her energy to helping the plight of those less fortunate. Always an advocate for the rights of women she was passionate and devoted in her role at the Women's Small Business Administration. She worked for the Beacon Council in Miami, and that was when she discovered Miami Beach which has always been her favorite place. Carla worked for FEMA and was involved in efforts to evacuate and aid residents of New Orleans after Katrina. Even after retiring from FEMA, she served as an officer in Strays No More, an animal rescue organization, which she helped to create. Carla loved exploring and discovering things whether it was travelling or exchanging ideas and concepts. She was truly an inspiration and a beautiful soul. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of the many that were fortunate enough to love her and be loved by her. Memorial donations in Carla’s memory may be made to Strays No More, P.O. Box 531004, Henderson, NV 89053.
