It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Carla Mathis, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend. Carla was born on the 3rd of March, 1948, and sadly left us on the 15th of July, 2023.

A woman characterized by her bubbly and caring personality, Carla was many things to many people. She was a source of joy, a beacon of compassion, and a pillar of love to those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Carla was a fiercely devoted family woman. She got married in 1981 and was blessed with a beautiful daughter, Mary Mathis, on May 19, 1962. Her love for her family knew no bounds and was especially evident in her relationship with her precious granddaughter, Jordynn Mathis, whom she cherished greatly.

Her vivacious personality was reflected in her colorful preferences in life. Carla adored the color purple, a vibrant reflection of her own zest for life. Her favorite music was smooth R&B, which she listened to while enjoying her favorite drink, sweet old KoolAid. Carla enjoyed unwinding in front of the TV, with "Good Times" being her show of choice. She was also an avid film lover, with "8Mile" amongst her top favorites.

Beyond being a devoted family woman and a lover of life's simple pleasures, Carla was also a mentor and a guide. The best lesson she had to share was how to have a good heart. In living by this principle, she not only shaped her own life, but those around her as well.

While we mourn the loss of such a radiant soul, we also celebrate the happy and fulfilling life she led, and the many precious memories she leaves behind. Carla's intertwining of love, kindness, and joy will forever remain in our hearts. Our deepest condolences go out to her daughter Mary, granddaughter Jordynn, and the many others whose lives she touched.
