I am so sorry to hear this news. Carla was my friend in high school and my suite mate at Carolina. She was always happy, positive, and a good friend. I lost touch with her over the years. I know she will be missed. She was a great person. My prayers are with her family at this difficult time.
I went to high school with Carla, but I fell out of touch after going away to college. In high school she was one of my favorite people. I always liked talking to Carla. during our 20 yr high school reunion in 1997 I made it a point to talk with her and her husband. We caught up quickly. However I remember how effortlessly she literally made time stand still, she made me feel that although the years and changes were many, she was still the same, she was still a good friend. I liked Carla because she was always real, unpretentious and genuinely nice but I came to respect her character even more after becoming a believer in college. It was then I discovered the source of her strength, but I'm still amazed at how she lived her faith. What an example!
She is one of those people that invokes a good thought, a light, no matter where you are or what you are doing many years later. I'll miss her incredible demeanor, her genuine character, her encouraging way.
I know without question she is home in heaven with no pain and full of joy. Carla was the real deal, an inspiration to us all..... She will be missed but not forgotten! Thank you Carla.
Carla exhibited the love of Christ to every person she encountered. We were blessed to have known her and her family for many years. Some of our fondest memories from Chicago were with Carla and Larry. As we have shared this news with our children the only words that can be used are that Carla was truly one of the kindest people we have every known. Our prayers are with Larry and the children in the coming days.
I knew Carla well “back in the day”, and loved her dearly. I am so very sorry for your loss as a family. She will always be with you, watching down on all of you with that unforgettable smile. Larry, hang on to those precious memories, I know I will.
Love and prayers,

My deepest sympathy to the Brandenbury family with the loss of sweet and always caring to others , Carla. Over the years, when I lived in Greensboro, she was so concerned about her children's success in high school and I know the values she instilled in them that they could only be successful in their lives. The memories she has left to all that knew her will hopefully help with the healing of the sad hearts that are felt at this time. Ann Whiddon
I have been best friends with Courtney ever since my family moved to Greensboro in 1999. I have always thought of Mrs. Brandenburg as an angel on this earth. I don't think she had an ounce of meanness in her body. She always treated me like one of her own. I can hear her now, welcoming me into her home, with that sweet southern voice saying "Come on in Allyssa, Court's up in her room." One of my fondest memories of Mrs. B happened recently. I brought my niece over to the Brandenburg's this summer to have a playdate with Levi (I'm sure you can imagine the smile she had on her face watching the two of them). It was raining out and when we got ready to leave Corey asked if he could walk me to my car with an umbrella, I declined because frankly I am not use to that kind of kindness. As I stepped out of their house I see Kip outside in the rain with an umbrella shielding a pregnant Alex. I instantly thought of how great of a job Mrs. B did raising her four children and how that simple act of kindness brought so much joy to me that day. It saddens me to think of this world without her here but it brings me so much happiness that I get to see so much of her in my best friend Courtney. Her bright, warm smile is going to be greatly missed. Sending all my love to the Brandenburg clan, love you all.
Carla was the kindest and most optimistic person I ever met, and I think almost everyone who knew her would say the same thing.
She was a great neighbor and friend. Her passing is a deeply felt loss to our community.
But she and Larry instilled their values into their four wonderful children, so Carla's spirit will live on as those young adults go out into the world.
Carla helped a lot of us through hard times, and helped us celebrate good times.
When hard times came to her, she bore them with inspiring strength and serenity.
She made a deep impression on so many of us. Although we won't get to see Carla any more, we will always carry a little bit of her spirit with us, and try to live up to the example she set.
My condolences to the Brandenburg family. Carla was a wonderful person and a devoted wife and mother. Michelle and I will miss her very much. The earth has lost an angel and heaven has gained one.
So very sorry for your loss. Just found a card she sent to my mom when my dad passed. Such a thoughtful lovely woman. She will be missed and always remembered. Prayers to the family

I had a birthday party. I was very young. I invited several people from my school to my party. Carla was the only one that came. She was one of the best. God took her home. He made a masterpiece when he breathed life into her. She was the sweetest person in school. This world wont be the same without her. I know God has her in his arms now.
