Carl's obituary
Carl A Youman, 82, of St Augustine, Florida, passed away on October 17 after a long battle with Parkinson’s.
Carl was born in Washington, DC, graduating from John Carroll Catholic High School and was an American University Alumni.
After graduation, Carl found his dream job with Chessie/CSX Railroad from where he retired. Married to his beloved wife, Connie Shaffer Youman for 57 wonderful years, they have two sons, Carl II, and Alan and their spouses and many grand/great grandchildren.
Carl was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. To say Carl was a train enthusiast was an understatement, and his vast collection of train memorabilia matching that of a train museum.
A celebration of Carl’s life will be held on November 14, opposed to a traditional funeral service. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to the UF Health Shands Neurology Fund Online Giving » Giving » UF Health » University of Florida).
