Carl's obituary

Carl Parker, 57, of Evanston, IL, passed away on July 07, 2022 after a tumultuous battle with pancreatic.

Carl was born on August 3, 1964 to Altha Mae and Calvin Parker Jr. in Evanston, Illinois. After graduating from his beloved Evanston Township High School in 1983, he went on to study Business Administration at Eastern Illinois and play on the Eastern football team. Carl was a beloved member of the Evanston community and force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. Carl was also a sports enthusiast and athlete. He was a star athlete at Evanston Township High School on both baseball, hockey and football teams. The playing field was his second home and has remained lifelong friends of his childhood teammates!

Carl never went a day in life without a joke and thrived by making others laugh. He was not a shy man, but he was a private man. If you wanted to know how he truly felt, his actions often spoke louder than his words.

Anyone who knew Carl knew that he was the most loving father, brother and husband a family could ask for. In 2010, he met Ella, and they wed on January 2, 2014. He was unendingly proud of his daughters Miranda and Sydney, and always tried his best to support them. He and could often be found at Sydney’s soccer games – near or far when he wasn’t at home. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. He was a protective brother, his brother Derrick and sister, Debbie, meant the world to him.

He was a successful business owner of Parker and Sons Carpet Cleaning Services, serving a lengthy list of loyal clients for over 40 years. His clients were extended family members. Carl was the proud recipient of the 2019 Milestone Award from the Black Business Consortium of Evanston North Shore – awarded to entrepreneurs that have been in business more than 20 years. Carl was also recently elected to serve on the ETHS Foundation Board.

Carl was predeceased by mother Altha Mae Parker, father Calvin Parker Jr, and Steven Royce Parker. He is survived by wife Ella Woodford-Parker, daughters Miranda (Xan) Parker  and Sydney Parker, sons by marriage  Chandler Bramwell and Ellington Bramwell, sister Debra  (Victor) Parker-Boyd, and brother Derrick (Tawanda) Parker, two nephews, Charles (Jamie) Connor,  and Pierre Boyd.

There will be a Funeral and Celebration of Life service in his honor on Friday, July 15 at Second Baptist Church of Evanston located at 1717 Benson Avenue, Evanston Illinois with 10:00am viewing and 11:00am service.

We invite you to donate to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCan) in their honor, in place of sending flowers.
