Duane's obituary
Carl Duane Jones of Liverpool, NY passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 11th, at Vista Veranda in Ravenna, OH. He was 85. Carl, who friends and family called Duane, was beloved for his kindness, generosity, and the rich personal stories he shared at every family gathering—often bringing laughter, nostalgia, and wonder for all of his life experiences.
In his heyday, Duane served as a Navy sonarman, soared as an amateur pilot, and explored the country as a cross-country truck driver—truly a master of the seas, skies, and the open road. He was an avid fan of Penn State football, and enjoyed a long and successful career as a technician for Xerox, General Electric, and Locheed Martin.
Surviving Duane are his two sons, Gregory (Stephanie) Vance-Jones of Burlington, NJ, and Robert (Mercedes) Jones of Brocton, NY, his sister Helen (Walt) Snyder of Newton Falls, OH, a grandson, Nicholas Jones, and a soon-to-arrive granddaughter, Joanna Vance-Jones, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, March 18 from 1-2pm at Adams Mason Funeral Home in Akron, OH. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 5th from 11-11:30am at Maple Grove Cemetery in Waterloo, NY, where he will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife, Joan, who passed away in 2019. Duane will be greatly missed, but his warmth, cherished stories, and his unwavering supportive nature will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
