Carl will be sadly missed he was a good friend & work colleague always smiling, full of life, fun to be around, a good heart & a genuine down to earth guy. The work place will never be the same. R.I.P Carl Carr
Halo Reach: “Subby we had a great time gaming with you and talking for hours about anything and everything. Thanks for all your stories that made me laugh. You will be missed my friend.” OPfinetime
Subby, so sad to hear you've left us. Never met you in person, but have many fond memories of catching up in Reach... many times we didn't even play but just joked around and shared stories for hours in party chat. Have to laugh, remembering you trying to correct our American friends calling me "Aussie" with the hard S sound, instead of "Auzzie" LOL mate, they were saying it right, just with the wrong accent :) I remember you being a very good team mate, pretty damn good player for an old dude (as I am of an age too) you ran rings around me, but never boasted or criticized slower players. Subterain, I feel privileged to have known you and will miss you. AussieChill
Honestly such a kind hearted person. He was certainly a gentleman but still had a wonderful sense of humor. I’m sure it would have been a blast to meet you in person. I am sad to see him go and I’m sure his online family all miss him dearly, as do I. Fly high and watch over your family and friends. Xoxo Rapture <3
Very sorry to here of our teammates passing. In our world he would always respawn. He was an awesome teammate, he would cover you and take a bullet for you, distract the enemy, respond to callouts and if I remember correctly favored the wraith. We loved his humor and jokes. Talked about stories of Thailand. He's remembered from his friends across the globe in the US, Canada, Australia perhaps a few in Mexico. A lot of Halo friends... so many. RIP from the UNSC. - Mustang Minardi
I'm Carl's sister Tara, I have hundreds of memories and stories about him. Mostly though, he was just a regular guy, loved cars, a glass of beer and playing the "remember when" game. One of my fondest memories was going skiing with him at Mt. Washington, we spent the weekend with a bunch of friends, skied, ate, drank and had an amazing time. On one run, he ran into me and we both ended up careening down about 100 yards, snow going everywhere. We were right under the chairlift, so we got a ton of hoots and hollers as we tumbled down - it was hilarious.
I don't really believe in a god or religion, a heaven or hell, or an afterlife. I'll tell you what I do believe in further on. But I will write this as if writing to you as if you could read it.
Carl,
I miss you buddy. We had many conversations at work together and they all seemed to be only about 3 different subjects. All of which were always very entertaining and all of which I was in awe of.
1, American cars, V8s man you had a passion for them. I loved your stories of Mustangs and Chevies. When I first got my Mustang you were top of the list for me to take for a spin. I remember waking you up at 8am on a Sunday morning after I finished a night shift to go to that car show at Duxford. Both of us must've looked a right state but it was a fantastic day. We were there showing my motor with the Mustang Owners Club of GB. All sorts of Mustangs and every colour under the rainbow, and as we walked around we went to where the Ferraris were. As you rightly pointed out they were all red and all looked the same, and you spoke to one of the Ferrari owners. You knew more about his car then he did. As we walked away, you said something unrepeatable about Ferraris and their owners. It made me laugh so much, but it's so true. Then there was that charity car run in Canterbury with the worst burgers known to man. But we were both so hungry and as you said it was all for charity.
2, All night gaming. I remember fondly how you used to talk about your latest all night exploits playing Halo on your Xbox. Never did you brag that you were the best player in the world, in fact I get the impression that you understated your skills capturing flags and blowing away the Noobs. I always felt that I was missing out as a part-time gamer. You'd talk of your buddies all the time and the great laughs you had. I know that being such a likable bloke you had many good friends out there on the ether and I just know that they all miss Subby as we who worked with you do.
3, You're various trips overseas. I loved your tales of trips to Vegas and Thailand, and every time you'd pull out your phone and show me photos. I was so jealous of your trips away. I really would have loved to have had the chance to go away with you and let you show me around. Because the places you went you were an expert on. You would have made a great tour guide as well as travel buddy.
As I said I don't believe in much but what I do believe in is memories. Carl, you blessed me with good memories. To make this world a better place all you need to do is make others feel good when they are down and be there when they need you. You did that for me and I know you will do that for the rest of my life. I'll never forget you and times we spent. You gave me a nickname, that to this day, a manager still refers to me as because he once overheard you call me it. Not a nasty nickname at all. It just summed you up. Never a nasty word to say about anybody, a man of generosity and a kind heart.
When I saw you in hospital the first time you said something quite poignant that will stick with me. When I gave you a Dairy Milk Chocolate bar and you opened it, you said. "You know, here in hospital it's quite lonely. But you're never alone with a Dairy Milk" Now I don't drink, but I am fond of chocolate. I'll have a Dairy Milk in your honour instead of raising a glass, and whenever I feel lonely I'll grab myself a Dairy Milk, remember that I'm not alone with Dairy Milk because you told me that, and I'll salute you. Carl, thank you buddy.
Last of all before I go for now. Rest assured I'm not gonna tell of what really happened when you gapped up at Harrow sidings. Afterall the DRM recorded it as me and you agreed. Our little cover up 😉
I never met you personally but spent many hours over the years playing Halo Reach with you i will miss your humor and great personality that we all in the gaming community will miss greatly rest in peace my friend
