Carl's obituary

Carl H Basel Jr.

Died Feb 1, 2025, at 66 years old.

Carl is survived by his wife, Ginni (nee Billo), and children Ron (Ashley) Buzan, Stephanie (Randy) Little, and Ryan (Madison) Buzan. He was constantly delighted by the joy his and Ginni’s grandchildren Tyler and Carter and McKenna brought.  He and Ginni shared a connection of love and support that extended to their family.

Carl was preceded in death by his daughter Jillian Basel Salinas in 2010 and is also survived by his grandchildren by her- Elijah, Anastasia, and Jade. He is also survived by his brother Jeff Basel.

Carl often fondly talked about hosting family functions and the fun of having everyone together. He was delighted when the parties lasted long enough to pull leftovers from the earlier dinner back out of the fridge for a second round of the feast.

Carl was the first one to lend a hand if someone in his circle needed help. He wasn’t afraid to dig a hole to fix a plumbing problem or install a new floor. His mindset was that he could do anything and the only way to learn something was to research and jump in and do it, a philosophy not often found today. He was a hobbyist and enjoyed model railroading and home improvement projects.

Carl also leaves behind his work-family at POS.com Chicago. Carl originally started his career with Advanced Data Systems, INC as a teenager, and spent the entirety of his working life learning technology for restaurants and retail stores and delivering solutions to customers while providing outstanding support. Carl’s experience bridged the transition from electronic cash registers up to today’s modern day cloud computing. Carl was deploying cutting edge systems nationwide in the early stages of computer technology and understood everything from the tech side to the needs of operators. In all his years of working with the public, you would be hard pressed to find a client that didn’t love Carl. He was dedicated, knowledgeable, and cared so very much about the people around him.

Carl left life far too soon. He will continue to be an inspiration through his eternal memory and will be dearly missed.
