Carl's obituary

It is with great sadness that we share the news that Carl Otto Albert, 72, passed away in his home in LaPorte Texas on July 26th, 2020. Carl was born on January 25, 1948 in Floresville, TX to Arnold and Alma Albert and was the youngest of three children. He had an older brother, Armin Albert and sister Melba Crisp. Growing up, Carl excelled in academics, sports, and most importantly socializing - he was a great friend to many. In high school and the years that followed, Carl and his friends were always working on cars, playing with cars, or racing around town. Carl loved to tell his kids stories about taking engines apart for fun with his friends, just to put them together again! Carl was also an incredibly hard worker his entire life. He spent many years around the Floresville and surrounding area as the bread man, working for Buttercrust. He later moved to LaPorte, TX where he worked for DuPont and then retired after driving 18-wheelers for Enterprise Transportation Co. Carl had a short retirement, if one could even call it that; he worked 12 hour days on his house and classic cars, when he wasn’t making a visit to the local swap meet or pawn shop, or visiting his friends or kids. Carl loved the Lord and attended church at St. Hyacinth in Deer Park, TX for many years. He often encouraged his children to be active in church, pray daily – thanking God for blessings and giving over to Him what we cannot control, and put the Lord above all else.

Carl is survived by his three beloved children, Christopher (Kim) Albert, Kendra Albert, and Madison (Jon) Mathews, six grandchildren, Aaliyah Perez, Zadin and Gavin Albert, Kaydence Pierce, and Kenton and Karly Williams, and two granddogs Benny and Mookie Mathews.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Alma, and both siblings Armin and Melba.

We will hold two celebrations for Carl’s life:
A funeral mass for his LaPorte, Deer Park, and Houston area friends and family will be held on Thursday, August 6th at 10am at St. Hyacinth Catholic Church in Deer Park, TX.

A later funeral mass for his Floresville and surrounding area friends and family will be held on Saturday, August 8th at 10am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville.

I do not know anyone who has got to the top without hard work. That is the recipe. It will not always get you to the top, but should get you pretty near. ~ Margaret Thatcher, Former UK Prime Minister
