Carey was a rare soul. She drew me in the moment I met her with her authentic personality. She always shined a little brighter than everyone else and was someone who made you feel special. She didn’t like to text and always wanted to call and talk on the phone. She was always sure to tell me how much she loved me before we hung up. I will probably never find another friend who loved me as unconditionally as Carey. She was a collector, not of things, but of moments. She loved a good music festival and had a thing for trees. She loved to send me videos of quaking aspens and towering pines. She lived to find joy in things and always reminded me to “look up.” Look up at the sky, the trees, the world and just take it all in. She was never afraid to speak her mind and stand up for things that mattered. Now that she’s gone the world is dimmer. She shined like a rainbow in the sun. The song “She’s a Rainbow” will always remind me of her because she had the energy of a rainbow after a rainstorm. Rest in peace my sweet friend.

She comes in colors everywhere

She combs her hair

She's like a rainbow

Coming, colors in the air

Oh, everywhere

She comes in colors

Have you seen her all in gold?

Like a queen in days of old

She shoots colors all around

Like a sunset going down

Have you seen a lady fairer?
