Candace's obituary
On January 23, 2025 Candace Lorraine Rios (Miller), 72, of Tehachapi, Ca, was called home by our Heavenly Father, whom she spent her life faithfully serving. Her family was by her side, holding her hands, and hugging her with all their love until her last heart beat. Although a harrowing loss for her surviving family, [husband- Arnold Rios; daughters- Anna Escobedo, Rachel Marantos (Josh Marantos), Marissa Sullivan (Adam Sullivan); grandchildren- Isabel, Deven, Alana, Olivia, Liam, David, Isaac, and Violet; and brothers- Russell Miller, Edmond Miller (Marta Miller)] the family believes that God is merciful and now Candace is in God's perfect care, free from her Earthly struggles.
Candace was born in San Jose, Ca to Harold and Pearl Miller on January 3, 1953. She was raised in San Fernando and Newhall, and attended Hart High School. It was there that she rode the fateful bus #18, driven by Arnold Rios- whom she later fell in love with and married 4 years later on September 7, 1974. They spent their early years of marriage venturing the California Coast through the High Sierra's in their VB bus, complete with Candace's hand sewn animal patterned curtains. A favorite camping spot, Calaveras Big Trees State Park (which remains a summer camping tradition to this day), inspired them to build their own log home in the mountains of Frazier Park. There they raised their 3 daughters. Candace devoted her life to being the heart of her home, loving her husband, nurturing her girls, and demonstrating God's love in the kindness she radiated like sunshine. Her unconditional love for her children could only be matched by the love she gained when becoming a Nana. Candace's showered her eight grandchildren with love, support, and the most precious of all her gifts- joyous, exciting, laughter-filled quality time. This warm hearted care and attention was given not only to family and extended family; she gave freely to friends and friends of friends, people she just met, people in need of someone to listen, and would-be strangers, but she had never met a stranger. Every conversation she engaged in was thoughtful because she genuinely cared. These innumerable cherished moments, 2 generations worth of imparting her love and guidance on her family, along with the kindness and empathy offered to every soul who is been blessed to have known her will be her legacy. Candace left the grandest legacy of kindness and love, which will last and reach endless bounds.
