Cameron's obituary

Cameron Courtney Wheeler

Born on December 24, 1947 to William and Minnie Wheeler in St. Albans where he lived until they moved to Hempstead in his teenage years. The oldest of the three brothers, Derek and Scott Rickey.

He traveled the world which exposed to him to so much culture and diversity and he loved it so much!!! He told his stories of his travels to all of us and being the storyteller he was there was always “hot sauce” to make the story just right.

He taught for a time and really enjoyed this. He remembered all his stories and wrote all his experiences down into a book he wanted to publish.

In 1981 he married Eufy as he lovingly called her and knew she was the one. After all he was a ladies man for many years. They were happily married until her last day, March 7, 2002. They only had one child, Fidelia Wheeler, whom they both love immensely.

He worked for the NYC MTA as a token clerk for over 15 years. Due to his Syringomyelia diagnosis and symptoms he had to file for disability in 1998. His strength during this was incredible as he fought daily while his health declined. Always hopeful and willing to find new treatments.

Proud dad and grandfather he was so close to Fidelia, Joshua and Jace. During his last days he watched Joshua go off to prom and graduate high school. He also experienced Fidelia obtaining her Masters degree. His love and support had no limits. He was always there to give us his honest advice and he was our biggest fan 🙏🏾❤️

We were a team and home won’t be the same without him. But now he gets to fly freeee and explore the afterlife …. Until we meet again our amazing angel 😇❤️🥲
