Cameron's obituary

Cameron Thomas-DeWayne Plake passed away unexpectedly on June 8th, 2022 in Fort Worth, Texas. He was preceded in death by his grandparents George and Ann Mills of Wyandotte, Oklahoma and Wayne Plake of Miami, Oklahoma. He is survived by his Mother Angie Plake Hulsey and Stepfather Brandon Hulsey of Wills Point, Texas; biological Father Toby Moore; Great Grandmother Iva Plake of Miami, Oklahoma; Grandfather Jerry Plake and wife Penny Ramsey of Miami, Oklahoma; Grandmother Kay Mills of Texas; Grandparents John and Dottie McClusky of Dallas, Texas. Additionally, he is survived by his cousins—who were more like siblings—Kaytlyn Nelson and husband Preston Nelson, Kasey Stovall, and his aunt, Sandee Plake.

Cameron was a magnificent human, whose kindness knew no bounds. Cameron would never admit it, but he had a heart of gold that was infectious. Cameron was known to his friends as “Biggie”. Cameron was a giver, which was displayed in his personal and professional life. He loved helping and mentoring future generations by volunteering at Camp Worth, where he directly impacted countless children battling with autism. They adored him and he found a sense of purpose in his actions by cooking and reading with the children. On some Saturdays, he was guilty of spending time with them and even taking them to the bookstore. Furthermore, he chose a career with a youth correction facility as a security guard, where he had the opportunity to interact with teenagers from all walks of life. Undoubtedly, he impacted the lives of numerous people battling with irregularities in a chaotic world.

Two of Cameron’s favorite hobbies were cooking and shooting guns, which proves he was Texan to the bone. If you spent time with Cameron, you would have likely found him grilling or experimenting with new recipes. He also enjoyed spending time with family; his love for his mother, cousins, and grandparents was vibrant and inspiring. At family gatherings, he proved to be the life of the party, which brought everyone together. Cameron unequivocally impacted so many people. He will be gravely missed.
