Calvin Ortiz, 53, of Huntsville, TX, passed away on November 10, 2024 after having passed from a massive stroke at HCA-Conroe. Calvin was born in Pasadena, Texas on December 29, 1970 to Arnold D and Maria Ortiz. Because of his family's career moves Calvin finally entered Huntsville HS as a freshman and graduated in 1989. He then enrolled at SHSU as a part time student while working in Food Service in Huntsville, first at the Western Sizzlin and then at Golden Corral. Thru all his long hours and  hard work he earned his Bachelor of Arts in May of 1998. He was hired by HISD started at Stewart Elementary in the Fall of 1998 and he continued his diligence in his new career eventually being recognized in 2005 as the Outstanding Teacher Award: Huntsville Rotary Club, 2012 January Educator of the month, 2015 HISD Educator of the Year, and 2015 Huntsville Item Educator of the Year. Calvin moved on to Conroe ISD being hired by Austin Elementary to teach fourth grade.
