Calvin's obituary
Hey Everyone, with a heavy heart, I’m here to let you all know that our friend Calvin Jarboe passed away on Thursday, June 19th.
For those of you lucky enough to have been close to him, you’ll know he was one of the most ridiculous and magnetic people to walk this earth. He was insanely kind and generous to those he loved, and he took pride in taking care of them. He loved to joke and jest, was wickedly sarcastic, and would laugh at just about anything. Finally, he cherished inclusivity, and was always the first to include a new face. It was incredibly important to him that people didn’t feel left out, and he made it his mission to ensure no one ever did.
No one wasn’t family to Calvin.
Despite some tremendous lows in his life, Calvin was a near constant spring of happiness. He was able to experience many of life’s great highs as well as evidenced by his many friendships, travel adventures, as well as the opportunity to marry the love of his life, Kristen. To know Calvin over the last 10 years, was to know love for her.
To those of you who didn’t know him or have a chance to get to know him well, I am truly sorry. As I’ve come to learn more and more each day since his passing, Calvin’s impact on the people that have crossed his path is awe inspiring. He has touched more people than I can ever know and left impressions that will last a lifetime. Even still, I’m certain that in your however brief or extensive time spent with our friend, you’ll have experienced some or all of what I mentioned above, and for that I am glad for you.
As for me, Calvin was my brother, my best friend, and (in his words) “hetero life mate.” He was my teacher, confidant (not a very good one by the way, but he tried), shoulder to cry on, advisor, guide, mentor, fellow Harry Potter and other fantasy/sci-fi enthusiast, you name it. He is a major reason I am the person and parent I am today, and I am eternally grateful to have had him in my life these last 20 years.
Nothing will be the same from here on out, I get that. But I also know his spirit and the energy he brought to every interaction will continue on in all of us, and that brings me immense joy and gratitude.
With all that said, we will be sure to share information on memorial services shortly. Please feel free to reach out or comment below if you need anything or want to talk about our guy.
Much love to you all,
Spenser Sparks
