My condolences to Calvin’s family and friends. I got to know Calvin while we were both culinary students. He impressed me as someone with a kind soul and open heart. Rest in Peace, Chef Calvin.

My heart goes out to Huyen and Ryan after such a tragic loss. This was a nice synopsis of a life lost much too soon. I think my most indelible Calvin memory was when he befriended a stray dog on the beach at Boracay. They seemed to me to be inseparable while we were there. He was a good lookin kid, and from the outside looking in, he seemed to have had a big heart and a strong affinity for the underdog - sometimes literally!

I didn’t have the chance to meet Calvin in person, but I got to know a little bit about him through Huyen. She spoke so proudly and lovingly about both of her sons and mentioned them often. I remember her saying she had to get home because Calvin was making dinner. I’d ask what he was cooking, and she’d say, “I don’t know—but it’ll be delicious!”
I know her sons enjoyed spending time together and shared some good laughs around a family poker table. My heart goes out to Huyen and Ryan. I hope that in time, when you think of Calvin, the sadness is softened by all the wonderful memories people have shared here—and the many special memories you hold close in your hearts.

Calvin was extremely gifted and had a huge heart. He left this world way too early! I will always cherish the many moments we had together and as a family. God Bless my son! You WILL always be in my heart and mind.
Forever Love!

I was absolutely heartbroken to hear the news. Ryan, Hyuen, and the rest of the Crass family, sending you lots of love and my deepest condolences
Calvin was endlessly kind, an incredible friend, and wonderfully talented chef. In 2019 I was back in Wisconsin visiting my family for the holidays and had texted him for tips on cooking a crown rack of lamb as it was my first time making it and didn’t want to ruin our family dinner. Instead of just sending over some pointers, without hesitation he generously offers to come over and help me prepare it. The lamb turned out flawless (obviously) and we all had such a lovely dinner together. To this day, my parents rave about how it was one of the best things they’ve ever eaten! He really would have done anything for his friends and is one of the most fiercely loyal people I’ve had the pleasure of knowing. The world is less bright without him but his memory will live on through the many people whose lives he’s touched.
Love you Calvin

Crass Family, Bruce, Momma Crass, Ryan and Calvin. I used to hangout at the house almost every day, and on the weekends we would play at the house and go paint balling together. Memories never fade, and the times we had give us great stories to tell. I’ll miss you. Thoughts and prayers with everyone.

Dear Calvin,
The first time I met you, I was in high school, and you were working at my parents restaurant. I remember doing anything I could to annoy you, sticking around and keeping you from your duties. Little did I know that those moments would blossom into such a wonderful friendship.
You always showed so much kindness and generosity and taught me the importance of being carefree.
You brought me along on so many fun and unique adventures- moments I’ll never forget. From sitting on your porch sharing ghost stories, watching movies together, and going bowling, to dressing up for Halloween, trying your latest culinary masterpiece, exploring the woods in Necedah, and getting a puppy (who’s now almost 12 years old!)—those memories are treasures I’ll hold onto forever.
That chapter of my life was one of the most fun and cherished.
I love you so much, Calvin. Thank you for everything. You were more than a friend to me—you were my brother.
Rest easy, my friend. I love you so much and I can't wait for us to meet again in the next life ❤️

I met Calvin in middle school and became close to him through skateboarding. He took me to cool places and always included me even when I was too shy. Throughout the years I wouldn’t see him and then out of nowhere he would pop back up. I always enjoyed our time together. He’s a really good friend. I always felt close to him no matter how long we wouldn’t talk for or how far apart we were. He’s just that kind of guy. Love you Calvin!!!

One of my favorite memories was when Calvin took me to my first concert when we were in highschool. We made matching t-shirts, had the best time and danced all night. He taught me to be carefree and be in the moment.
