Caleb's obituary

Caleb Daniel Shaner, 21, of Schuylkill Haven, passed away on Saturday, August 2nd due to a tragic accident.

Born on June 27th, 2004, he was the son of Kelli R. (Welker) Shaner, Schuylkill Haven and MSgt William P. Shaner, USAF (Ret.), Orwigsburg.

On April 15th, 2022 of his senior year in high school, Caleb enlisted in the United States Air Force. After graduation from Blue Mountain High School in June 2022, Caleb was sent to basic training at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Texas. Following basic training he went to tech school at Sheppard AFB in Wichita Falls, Texas and continued his training at Little Rock AFB in Jacksonville, Arkansas.

He served as a Crew Chief with the 193rd Special Operations Wing, Harrisburg, assigned to an MC 130J known as "Chicken Joe". He also belonged to the 193 SOW Association.

Caleb attended Bloomsburg University where he was studying business management with a focus on sales and marketing. He was a member of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity.

Caleb belonged to Kimmels Evangelical Free Church, Orwigsburg.

Caleb was an avid skier, loved nature and spending time outdoors.

In addition to his parents, Caleb is survived by two brothers: William “Brody” & Aiden Patrick Shaner, and maternal grandmother, Patricia Shaner. He was also survived by aunts and uncles: Kimberly Heck (Edward), Frank Welker, Karen Pattison (Steven K.), Michael Shaner (Melissa), Kelly Gonzalez (Mark), Timothy Shaner, & Marie Shaner; and cousins: Elizabeth Ann Combs (Ben), Jennifer Druck (Michael), Tracy Fish (Nathan), Steven R. Pattison, Heather Harris (Jacob), Kristina Pattison, Walter Shaner, Lily, Elias, and Will Baran, Ella Gonzalez, & Riley, Brennan, Kellan, and Ella Shaner.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Almenia & Richard D. Welker; and paternal grandfather, William A. Shaner.

A viewing for friends and family will be held from 4-7 PM on Thursday, August 14th at Kimmels Evangelical Free Church, Orwigsburg. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held at 10 AM on Friday, August 15th at the church. There is no viewing period prior to the service. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
