Cal's obituary

Cal Williams, 74, passed away on August 26, 2025, in Austin, Texas.

Born on January 6, 1951, Cal was a graduate of Bastrop High School. He built a respected career as a Master Electrician, laying the foundation for his career as an independent contractor with his own electrical business for many years. Known for his generosity, he often extended his services to those in need, regardless of their ability to pay. Later in life, Cal served as the Facilities Maintenance Manager for the Austin Preservation Board. In this role, he was entrusted with the care and preservation of some of Austin's most iconic historic buildings, including the State Capitol and the Governor's Mansion. His work left a lasting legacy and earned him enduring friendships that continued well into retirement.

Cal was not affiliated with a particular church, but he did believe in God and held a quiet faith within his heart.

Cal deeply loved his family and found great joy in spending time with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife; daughters LaReda Williams, Rae Williams, and Tammy Hyder; grandchildren Kaleigh P. Davis and William C.P. Davis; sister Katy Mae Brown; special niece Mary Moody; and brother of the heart, James Hardin. He also leaves behind a host of grieving family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ray Williams, his mother, Inez Davis Williams, his brother, Willie Ray Williams, and his sister, Susie Waites.

Cal's life was marked by service ~ to his family, his community, and the city he helped preserve. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved him.
