Cain's obituary
Johnathan Cain Standerfer
September 8, 1987 – August 4, 2024
Johnathan Cain Standerfer, known to all as Cain, passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2024, at the age of 36, due to a tragic car accident. Cain was born on September 8, 1987, and lived his life in Gunter, TX.
Cain was the beloved son of Johnny and Roxanne Standerfer and the cherished brother of Cody Standerfer and Corianne Roberts, along with her husband, Matt Roberts. He was a devoted uncle to his nephews, Hayden, Halston, and Huxley Standerfer, and his nieces, Tinley and Tatelyn Roberts. His grandmother, Pat (Grandy) O'Dell, was a special part of his life.
Cain is also survived by his extended family: Jana (John Henry Hill), Joy (Bo Griffin), Amy Ringo, Barbara (Charlie Bishop), and Henry Griffin. His first cousins include Teague Griffin, Tate Griffin, Connor O'Brien, Cierra De La Cruz, Amy Walden, Jennifer Graham, Brandi Caldwell, Troy Miller and Coy Miller.
Cain’s greatest joys were spent at the Steer show barn, working alongside his nephews and their show steers. He had a passion for cooking BBQ for Poppas Pit BBQ, showing steers, and playing pool. His time with his nieces and nephews brought him immense happiness, and he was always ready to lend a helping hand to others. Cain’s laid-back nature, constant smile, and love for writing songs and listening to country music left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him.
He was a member of Bold Cross Cowboy Church, where he found a community that shared his values and love for life.
Cain was preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank O'Dell, Pat and Hayden Standerfer; uncles Earl Standerfer and Tim O'Dell; and aunts Rosalyn Caldwell and Mary Griffin.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 17th, at 4:00 pm at 3R's Ranch, where family and friends will gather to remember and honor Cain's life.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cain’s Memorial Foundation, which will help the youth of Texas involved in FFA as that was Cain's passion.
Cain’s legacy of kindness, love, and laughter will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and community.
