Bryn's obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Tina's Service Dog Bryn Leet, affectionately known as "Mr. Smiles", on October 6, 2023. Born on January 14, 2011, Bryn passed at home with his head on his mom & teammate's shoulder and his paw in her hand with his Grandma by his head. As his mom/teammate read him his story and said their good night prayer with him one last time with some additives by both his Grandma and Mom/teammate. Bryn passed in his sleep with the help of some medication the doctor and the tech said, "that was the most peaceful passing that we have ever been a part of or witnessed." Bryn possessed a joyful spirit that touched the lives of all who knew him.

With a personality best described as exuberant and compassionate, Bryn was a beacon of positivity. He was always smiling, full of love to give, and known for his boundless empathy. His dedication and hard work were reflected in every aspect of his life. In his short but meaningful life, he taught us all invaluable lessons to always be patient, gentle, and be there for someone in need, and love no matter what.

Bryn accomplished many things in his life. Notably, he received his service dog certification at just one year old, a testament to his incredible determination and resilience. His unwavering companionship saved his mom/teammate from cracking her head open countless times – always by our sides and forever in our hearts.

Bryn leaves behind a legacy of love and service. His kind and gentle spirit demonstrated God's light and love in every interaction. Perhaps more poignant is his unwavering support during life transitions. He was instrumental in helping navigate the transition of his mom/teammate from military to civilian life, providing strength and comfort during times of hardship. He not only rescued our beloved pet dog, Jarmo, but also lent his support to his mother and Grandmother and other family members during challenging times. He also made sure that the right new dog could do the job that he did and he passed his mantle of Service Dog to his successor and he couldn't have been more proud of her! He felt like his mom/teammate would be in the best of hands and so he passed Tina off to the Service Dog that could continue his awesome work so he could go in peace and leave her in the best of hands of Service Dog Foxyfaith.

Bryn loved going to church and church events, also he loved helping out in Sunday School every other month while his mom/teammate Tina would help his grandmother Carol teach the 2-3 yr. olds. Bryn was known as a celebrity at the Madison VA Hospital and even was asked to take part in making a training video to help employees know the difference between fake service dogs and real service dogs! He gladly excepted and his memory and legacy lives on through each and every employee that watches that training video! Bryn loved accompanying his mom/teammate on all of her journeys from leaving the naval hospital in San Diego to coming home to Oconomowoc, WI, to traveling to CO and to Washington D.C., to Philadelphia, Chicago, going on a ship to cross Lake Michigan, to off-roading, camping, being on a boat while his mom/teammate was fishing, to riding in a kayak with his mom/teammate, to flying high in the sky (earning his pilot wings!), to traveling on a subway, and riding in countless cars.

Bryn is survived by his mother & teammate, Tina Leet, and his grandmother, Carol Leet. He is also mourned by his brother, Jarmo Leet, sister Foxyfaith Leet, his uncle Jesse Leet, and his aunt Trudy Leet. His sister, Kuddlles Leet, and his aunt, Christy Allan Leet, and cousin Mable predeceased him.

Mr. Smiles' light may have been extinguished in this world, but his warm and loving smile and paw prints will forever remain in our hearts. A loyal servant to God, Bryn spent many of his hours dedicating his life to being Service Dog. Now that Bryn has passed into the arms of our Lord, we should remind ourselves that while this is the end of Bryn’s physical life on Earth, it’s the beginning of an eternal and beautiful journey for him. His beautiful spirit will continue to serve as the greatest reminder to love unconditionally, serve others selflessly, and always wear a smile.

- Psalms 34:18 "The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; And saveth such as be of a contrite spirit."

- Matthew 11:28-29 "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls."

- Psalms 150:6 "Let every thing that hath breath Praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD."
