Bryant Dewayne Smitherman, 57, of Mobile, Alabama, passed away on September 1, 2025. Born on June 20, 1968, Bryant lived most of his life in Mobile, where he built a legacy of love, hard work, and family.

For more than 25 years, Dewayne dedicated himself to his role as Meat Department Manager at Winn-Dixie. His coworkers and customers knew him not just as a dependable worker, but as someone who could brighten the day with a smile or a story.

Dewayne is survived by his mother Patience McBride, daughters Jennifer McLeod, Amber Piper (Justin), Shyan Baker (Nathaniel), and his son Michael Burton (Stephanie). 15 grandchildren and his siblings, Lisa Janes, Danielle Spears, and Jay Dee Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his father, Hayward Johnson, and his older brother, Keith Johnson, who he now joins in peace.

At home, Dewayne found happiness in the company of his beloved pets—his cats Gwen, Bella, and Blaze, and his dogs Nymeria and Rebel. They brought him comfort and companionship.

His family, friends, and all who knew him will carry his memory with them always.

Those we love never truly leave us.
