Bryan's obituary

Bryan Bruce Smith, lovingly known as Smitty to friends, passed away on July 20, 2023. Born on March 3, 1968, Bryan was a man of unparalleled kindness, wit, and love, occasionally masked by a onery exterior.

He is survived by his cherished daughters, Natalie Denson and Marisa Crooks, his adored mother, Jo Smith, and his siblings, Monte Smith, Deborah Winters, and Micah Marin. Bryan's legacy will also continue through his son-in-law, Chris Denson, daughter-in-law, Nicole Crooks, sister-in-law Sharon Smith , sister-in-law Carol Marin, and brother-in-law Dan Winters. His life will be remembered with joy by his grandson, Daven Martinez, and granddaughter, Mya Martinez. He preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dona Smith, his father, Ray Smith, and his aunt and uncle, Fran and Billy Prock.

He was a man of varied tastes, savoring the spice of Chinese, Indian, and Mexican cuisine. His preferred beverages were Pure Leaf tea, coffee, and whiskey, no doubt enjoyed while engrossed in one of his favorite Tom Clancy novels or a compelling piece of sci-fi or fantasy literature. Bryan was also fond of music, with preferences ranging from Behemoth to Saxon, Amon Amarth, and Ozzy Osbourne, among many others.

Bryan had a knack for escaping into other realms, whether through the iconic TV shows Star Trek and Doctor Who, or via the complex narratives of his favorite films like Big Trouble in Little China, The Lord of the Rings, The Princess Bride, Monty Python and The Holy Grail, and Star Wars. He found solace in gaming with friends, fishing, reading, and camping. In the world of sports, Bryan was a supporter of the Texas Rangers.

One of Bryan's main joys was role-playing games like DND, which he played often. He embraced life with open arms, resulting in a beautiful and loving marriage and the love of his two daughters, accomplishments he cherished greatly.

His generosity was legendary, and he left behind a legacy of kindness and profound love. Bryan leaves a void in the lives of his two loyal dogs, Gabby and Wrigley, and many family members and long time childhood friends. His life will be celebrated on August 12, 2023, at the visitation starting at 2:00 PM following a memorial service at 3:00 PM at the  Lighthouse Country Cowboy Church 6409 S Farm to Market Rd 730.

His memory will be an enduring treasure, a constant reminder of the impact one life can have on many others. Bryan Smith's presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in those fortunate enough to have known him.
