Bruce's obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mr. Bruce Bennett, who was called home on August 20, 2024. Born on November 26, 1947, Bruce lived a life that was as full and impactful as the man himself. He was predeceased by his wife and love of his life, Jamie Raney; his father, William Bennett; and his mother, Dorthy Bennett.
Bruce is survived by his three loving daughters, Kelly Bennett, Shelly Brooks, and Robin Anglin who will forever cherish memories of their father. His step son Erik and wife Natalie, and his grandkids, Devyn, Bree, Jessica, Jackson, Alek, Eloise, and Sydney will miss all the joy that grandpa brought to their lives. His sister, Laurie Bennett, nephew Keegan and wife Michelle Tangeman. and their children Easton and Rylan. Niece Lindsay Tangeman and her son, Ashton. also survives him. His indomitable spirit, his wit, stubbornness, love, generosity, and courage will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
Bruce was a man of service and dedication. He proudly served in the Marines in 1966-1968, demonstrating bravery and commitment to his country when he was wounded and awarded the Purple Heart. His dedication extended to his local community as well, as he volunteered at both the Santa Barbara Equine Assistance & Evacuation Team and the Hearts Therapeutic Equestrian Center. Bruce was passionately devoted to the rehabilitation of veterans through HEARTS, and his contributions to these organizations stood as a testament to his generous nature and his belief in service to others.
He was a man who always advocated to fight for what you believe in and for those you love. This approach to life was evident in his greatest accomplishments: his service to his country, and his selfless volunteer work. Bruce's legacy remains in the hearts of those who were touched by his kindness and tenacity.
We remember Bruce as a man who lived his life on his own terms, as a loving father, a dedicated volunteer, and a heroic marine. His passing leaves a void in our lives, but his spirit and the lessons he imparted will continue to inspire and guide us. Today, we honor and bid farewell to a man whose life was a testament to love, courage, and an unwavering belief in the power of dedication and service.
