Bruce's obituary
Bruce Peter Ludwig of Indian Trail, NC passed away at the age of 64 the evening of May 12, 2025. He was surrounded by his loving family. Son of Leo and Maria Ludwig, he is survived by his wife Kerry Ludwig; son Michael Ludwig and wife Tori; daughter Meghan Farmer and husband Cody; brother Rick; sisters Greta and Joyce; his grandchildren Stella, Jackson, Henry, and Lucy; and a loving extended family. He is preceded in death by his mother and father who welcomed him with open arms at the time of his death.
Born on May 3, 1961 in West Palm Beach, Florida, Bruce was born with a love for the ocean. In his youth, he loved to surf and fish. He’s continued the tradition with fishing trips with his son and teaching his grandchildren how to fish. He is remembered by his siblings as a kind-hearted child that loved mischief.
Bruce met the love of his life, Kerry, while they were both living in Florida. She was the beloved “girl next door”. They were married on July 15, 1989. They made each other laugh and shared a full life together.
In 1994, Bruce and Kerry moved to the Charlotte area to a loving and large extended family. They raised Michael and Meghan on Surry Lane in a quintessential country neighborhood. Bruce renovated every inch of the house – the siding, the floors, the wrap-around porch, and the shutters. His yard was a pride and joy – and he loved to garden and grow flowers for his wife.
A gifted electrician, Bruce worked with Recore Electrical Contractors, where he led teams and took pride in delivering quality work. His career often took him on the road, but he cherished time spent near his children and grandchildren. He never missed a chance to attend family dinners or surprise his grandkids.
In 2020, Bruce’s heart grew bigger as he welcomed his first grandchildren. He loved being a grandfather. He especially loved putting them to work. Together, they picked up sticks, tended the yard, and played outside on the swing set. His grandchildren remember him fondly for catching fireflies, fishing, camping, and playing in the yard. He loved brushing the girls’ hair, tending boo-boos, and sneaking ice cream to the children.
A true grill master, Bruce was known for his Saturday night steak nights with family. He loved watching Cops; the theme song will always bring memories of him. He loved animals throughout his life, and his Maggie & Zoey gave his joy until the end.
