Bruce's obituary
Bruce was preceded in death by his best friend and sister Marcia Holmes.
His memory lives on with his daughter and son-in-law, Meghan and Marc Fitzgerald and his three grandchildren, Samuel, Molly and Charlie Fitzgerald, all of Midlothian, Virginia; a sister, Sandra Kasper of Canton, Connecticut; and a nephew, Kristopher Holmes of Lake Wylie, South Carolina. He also leaves many friends and acquaintances that were charmed by his fun-loving and generous nature.
Bruce was a devoted and incomparable father. He enjoyed “shooting the breeze” and talking about any and everything with his daughter and son-in-law. Bruce was a generous and doting Grampy. His ability to make his grandchildren laugh through song and silliness was remarkable. He was well known in his favorite bars and restaurants for his undeniable presence, often making friends with entire crowds through his quick wit and charm. He cherished his retirement in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, where he lived in his “uniform” of khaki shorts and a white t-shirt, almost always seen around town drinking a Stella Artois (in a small glass). He spent his last few years living with his daughter and family where he brought his love, warmth and laughter.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place.
A private and intimate Celebration of Life will be held by the family.
