Bruce's obituary
Bruce Randall Eanes, 61, known to many as "Lucky," passed away on January 7, 2026, in Rock Hill, South Carolina—a place he had proudly called home for the last decade. Born in Martinsville, Virginia, on July 9, 1964, Bruce spent the majority of his life in the area he loved before planting new roots in the Carolinas.
Charismatic, outgoing, and larger than life, Bruce never met a stranger. His love was a tough love, but it carried immense weight. He wore his big heart on his sleeve and loved deeply—and if you knew Bruce, you knew exactly where you stood with him, good or bad. Routinely compared to Alan Jackson in his younger years, Bruce not only shared the country icon's looks but also his inability to stop singing country music.
Bruce was a gifted salesman whose personality and charm left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Most recently, he shared his passion for motorcycles at Dog House Harley Davidson (formerly Cox Harley Davidson) in Rock Hill, SC, where he built a second family among his coworkers and the countless customers who became lifelong friends. Prior to his career in sales, Bruce operated heavy machinery for Loparex and Koger Air in the Martinsville, VA, and Eden, NC, areas.
An avid outdoorsman, Bruce spent every moment he could hunting, fishing, and exploring the great outdoors—there wasn't an animal he hadn't pursued in his lifetime. When he wasn't in the woods or on the water, you could find him on his Harley, riding alongside the friends and family who shared his passion for the open road. He was also a skilled pool player, a love fostered around the family pool table during his children's younger years.
Bruce believed in those he loved and made sure they knew it. Whether it was Qualifying days at Martinsville Speedway, riding in his truck while blasting alternative rock from every decade, or summer days spent boating on Philpott Lake, he created memories his children will carry forever. He instilled in them a love for rock and roll, a competitive spirit, and an unwavering belief in their potential.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Callie Hankins Eanes and Melvin Eanes, and his sister, Sandra Kay Eanes.
He is survived by his daughter, Carly Eanes, and her partner, Patrick Ottaway; his son, Melvin Cody Eanes, daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Eanes, and grandson, Melvin Averett Eanes; his brothers, Melvin Kent Eanes and Marshall Eanes; his sister, Ginger Oyler, and brother-in-law, Kenny Oyler; his beloved Pitbull, Jax; and his dear friends Jay and Keri Ann Jackson and their daughter, Peyton Jackson. Bruce also leaves behind his cherished Dog House Harley Davidson family and countless friends whose lives he touched.
Bruce did not wish to be mourned. He wanted those who loved him to celebrate the life he lived and the memories shared together. In honoring that wish, a Celebration of Life will be held in Spring 2026. Details to come.
In Lieu of Flowers For those wishing to honor Bruce's memory, donations may be made to a local animal shelter of your choice. Bruce had a deep love for dogs, especially his beloved Pitbull, Jax. Your contributions will help animals in need find loving homes.
