Bruce's obituary
Bruce was known to all in his field as a kind, caring and compassionate doctor. So much so, that he was voted NE Florida's Optometrist of the Year in 2011. He was also one of the first optometrists in the state of Florida to be awarded full hospital privileges to treat his patients and was recognized by the American Optometric Association for his contributions in both ocular science and degenerative vision impairments.
Above all of his professional achievements, however, what Bruce valued most was his family. He was a proud father to his three children, Shennah Barbara (Caperton) Beardsley of VA, Summer Jeanne (Caperton) Clements of VA, and Matthew Allen Caperton of FL, as well as grandpa “B.B.” to his three amazing grandchildren, Layton Brooke Clements, Finley Haven Clements and Ava Sinclair Beardsley (whom he loved with all of his heart). In addition to his children, their spouses and his granddaughters, he is survived by his brother, David Caperton of TN, the mother of his children, Susanne Roessler-Gaynor, and many endearing nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members. He was a man who was loved by all and could lift the spirits of an entire room with his laughter and smile. He will be deeply missed.
Bruce’s Celebration of Life will be held at the Episcopal Church of our Savior in Mandarin, FL (date and time still pending). His ashes are to be divided amongst his three children and will be scattered at a later date according to his wishes.
