Brittney's obituary

Brittney Kay Dedmon McGough, loving daughter, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, niece, and friend was welcomed into the arms of Our Lord on January 2, 2022.

Brittney, the daughter of Jimmy and Linda Dedmon was born on August 10, 1967, in Dallas, Texas. She grew up in Plano, Texas with her parents and siblings attending Meadows Baptist Church. Her faith in the Lord brought her to love helping others in her job at a local Plano flower shop as a floral designer and wedding event planner.

She was a loving mother to three sons, Clint McGough, Kyle McGough and Nash Heddin and the proud grandmother of Mayson McGough. Her love for her sons and her grandson was her passion and she cherished every moment with her boys especially on their summer trips to the Texas and Florida beaches.

Brittney loved her family and enjoyed spending time bringing her humor and caring heart to every event. She would often suggest the menu of what they would have and who would bring what based on her love of the recipes cooked by her talented family. She enjoyed cooking and was an expert at cooking tacos by perfecting a recipe introduced from her maternal grandmother, Betty Watson. She really liked the Dallas Cowboys and always wanted to make it a chip and dip celebration even if they were losing.

Brittney had a passion for animals and owned and cared for many of the family dogs. She spoiled them with treats as they watched Lifetime movies cuddled on the couch together. Her love for animals earned her the title of “Other Mom” for many of our furry family dogs.

A celebration of her life was held Friday January 7, 2022, at Scoggins Funeral Chapel in Van Alstyne, Tx. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am followed by Services at 10:00 am. Brittney’s brother-in-law Pastor Frank Merlino officiated.   Burial will follow at the Van Alstyne Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jake Heddin, Austin Heddin, Chance Cranford, Caden Anderson, Jason Kahanic and David Schindler. Honorary Pallbearer Mayson McGough

Brittney is survived by her sons Clint, Kyle, and Nash, Grandson Mayson, Mother Linda Dedmon, Sisters Shelley Heatley and Mindy Merlino and husband Frank Merlino, Brother Paul Dedmon and wife Andrea, Aunts Darla Cranford and husband Harold, Becky Roberts and David Schindler. Companion Mike York and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and family dogs.

Brittney was preceded in death by her father Jimmy Lynn Dedmon.

The family would like to express appreciation for all the kindness shown during this time.

Services are under the direction of Scoggins Funeral Home & Crematory, 637 W. Van Alstyne, Pkwy. Van Alstyne, TX
