Brigitte Bauer Plessner died peacefully in her home in Morrill, Maine on 18 December 2021, surrounded by her family and her beloved dog, Lily, after many years of suffering with Alzheimer’s disease. She was 78.

Brigitte is survived by Hans, her devoted husband of 60 years, who dutifully and lovingly cared for her throughout her illness; her son Stefan Plessner and his wife Frances, who also spent many years attentively caring for her so she could remain at home; her daughter Marion Plessner Rodrigue and her husband Rod, and her son Christian Plessner and his wife Kellie. She was an adoring grandmother to her granddaughter Courtney and her grandsons, Andrew, Dustin, Travis and Jesse. Brigitte would have loved to get to know her greatgrandchildren, Hazel, Miles and Sadie and Andrew’s son, who will be born in May.

Brigitte was born on 14 December 1943 to Margareta Wolf Bauer and Michael Bauer, in Forchheim, Germany. She was the youngest of six children. After her mother’s death, Brigitte, her husband and their three young children immigrated to Salinas, California to be near her sisters, Marianne and Charlotte who predeceased her in death. Her brothers, Robert and Erich also predeceased her; she is survived by her brother Josef.

Brigitte and her family moved to Maine in 1989, where she lived life “the way it should be”.

Brigitte was smart, kind, funny and spunky. She loved to read, she was an excellent cook and an avid gardener. She was devoted to her family and loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and dog. She will be remembered for her impeccable style, her great sense of humor and her strong opinions.
