Bridget's obituary

Bridget B. Ellis (maiden name Bridger B. Sawyer, nickname Gidgie or Gidge), beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend passed away on September 13, 2022. She is remembered and forever missed by her daughter Samantha Fanjoy (aka Duffa); her siblings, Michelle Rosneck, Heidi Sawyer, David Sawyer and Shawn Sawyer; her nephews, Zachary Severance, Isaac Burdin and Thomas Sawyer; her three precious grandbabies, Rory Fanjoy age 6, Reed Fanjoy age 4 and Amelia Fanjoy age 1; and her son-in-law Brian Fanjoy. She was predeceased by her sister Kelly Sawyer of Dexter, ME who passed away in November of 2021. By her boyfriend of many years Paul Reusch of Milo, ME who passed in October of 2018 and by her dearest and most beloved friend Tammy Hafford of Saco, ME who passed away in April of 2017.

Bridget was born July 20, 1964 to David and Barbara (McIntosh) Sawyer. She spent half of her childhood growing up in Old Town, ME and the other half in Milo, ME, where she graduated from Penquis Valley High School in 1982. After graduation she enjoyed her youth, traveling and visiting friends until she became a mother at age 22. She would also go on to be stepmother to Aaron Ellis and Phillip Ellis.

Bridget enjoyed motherhood as a stay at home mom during her daughter’s elementary school years, then went on to be a caregiver for the elderly and disabled at a nursing home in Dover Foxcroft eventually becoming a CNA and home health aide in the Central Maine region. A job she excelled at, as her kindness to those she cared for was beyond measure.

Bridget will always be remembered for how much she loved hosting get-togethers. A visit to her home always meant finger licking good BBQ or mouthwatering turkey dinners and of course enough desserts to feed an army. Many make this claim about a loved one, but Bridget (My Mom) really did make the best pumpkin chocolate chip cookies in the world, hands down!

She had a great deal of fondness for birds, having made her own personal bird paradise for her feathered friends just outside her large picture window. Her excitement was contagious as she would jump up with glee and point to her favorite grosbeak or cardinal as they flew in to enjoy a snack at one of her feeders or enjoy a dip in her bird bath.

Knowing Bridget, was to know that she was a huge fan of old TV shows. Each evening, when it was time to wind down, it would be no surprise to find her snuggled up on the couch watching TV Land. The Andy Griffith Show and Leave it to Beaver were a couple of her favorites. Opie and the Beav were just too darn cute!

She was also wonderfully creative. Every visit was a chance to see one of her latest undertakings, weather it be a beautiful outside garden display, a themed Christmas tree adorned with handmade ornaments or antique furniture brought back to life.

Finally, Bridget’s all-time favorite thing was being her Grandchildren’s GG (short for Grammy Gidgie). She would always rave about Rory’s gift to gab, Reed’s kind heart and Amelia (Her little Bambino’s) beauty and smarts. Her heart beamed with pride as she watched them grow. They held the keys to her heart and they always will.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Samantha Fanjoy’s residence on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at noon. All who knew and loved Bridget are welcome. Food and beverages provided, just bring your fondest memories!
