Brian's obituary

Brian Micheal Shepherd (Bri), a beloved son, grandson, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, in Middletown, Ohio, at the age of 20. Brian was known for his kind heart, compassion, and wonderful sense of humor. Bri would find joy in the simple things in life, such as spending time with loved ones, playing basketball, and watching WWE wrestling or Mountain Monsters. He was a devoted son, grandson, brother, and boyfriend. Brian treasured every moment he had with family and friends, particularly Will Day Jr., whom he regarded as a father figure, and his girlfriend, Kali Major, with whom he spent countless nights planning their future together.

Brian was preceded in death by his uncle, David Payne, and grandfather, James Payne. He is survived by his parents, mother Heidi (Payne) Adkins, adopted mother Jeanene Cotton, and father James Shepherd. Two sisters: Andreah Adkins and Cherokee Shepherd. Three brothers: James Koedel, Bradly Adkins, and Dakota Shepherd. Grandparents: Tonya Payne, Tanwya (James) Massey, and Raveena (Ronald) Philbeck. Along with numerous extended family members.  Bri will be greatly missed and forever loved by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

The family would like to extend an exceptional thanks to the diabetes/endocrinology and gastroenterology teams at Cincinnati Children's Hospital. Furthermore, a big thank you to the staff at the Bunker Hill group home for boys.

A celebration of life followed by a repast will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 5 pm. The service and repast will take place at FREEDOM HOUSE CHURCH, 1060 12th Street, Hamilton, Ohio 45011.

Although flowers are lovely and greatly appreciated, the family respectfully requests that you consider a dessert, drinks, or a party tray (meat, cheese, fruit, vegetables, or a variety of sandwich breads) and maybe a few condiments in lieu of flowers.
