Brian's obituary

Brian D. Sachs, age 57, of Dover, passed away unexpectedly in his sleep, early Monday morning, April 19th, 2021.

Born in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania on February 18th, 1964; Brian was the son of the late Luther and Joan (Spangler) Sachs. Being the youngest of the household, he was always referred to as “little brother” by his siblings. Growing up in Chambersburg, Brian always said he had “the best childhood ever.” He would reminisce about the summers working his father’s paper route and the precious time they had spent together. Brian graduated from Chambersburg High School and attended the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. He would later open Drumlin Downe Recording Studios at his home in East Kingston, NH. For over a decade, Brian would work late nights with countless musicians recording their albums. Over the last year, Brian poured his heart into creating Diesel's Place, a center for compassionate and holistic horse care. He would share his own connection with his horse Diesel to heal mentally abused horses.

Brian’s world revolved around being a father to his two boys, Tom and Dave. For 25 years he showed them how to carry themselves as men. He gave them all the love in the world and was alway there when needed. Their time together was full of adventures, with countless road trips in the Winnebago up and down the east coast. Brian was always exceptionally proud of his children; always boasting about a wrestling match, a football game, and how his little boys had turned into such amazing men.

Brian lived through two bouts of childhood leukemia and cancer at age 40. Going through that kind of hardship at such a young age, he was determined to live life to the fullest and saw each day as a blessing. It was this outlook that led him to take a chance on someone he met on Match, and through the next 10 years, Brian and Paula fell deeply in love and spent their time doing things that just simply made them happy. Over the years, Brian naturally became “Babba” to their five grandchildren. Brian was always full of light and showered nothing but love on his family.

He is survived by his sons Tom and Dave Sachs, his significant other Paula Forbes, ex-wife Carol Sachs-Guthrie, brother Dr. Stephen and Carolyn Sachs, and sister Stephanie Salisbury. He is also survived by several loving nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Diesel’s Place. Over the last year, Brian had put all of his huge heart into creating Diesel's Place, a center for compassionate and holistic horse care. Paula, Tom and Dave wish to keep Diesel in the barn that Brian built for him at Paula's house. If you could have seen Brian and Diesel together, you would understand - as man and horse, they were unlike any other - they were soulmates. Anyone who has horses in their lives will know this requires a great deal of funding to sustain. If you would like to help Paula, Tom and Dave honor Brian's dream, please consider a donation to Diesel's Place via the donation option to the right of this screen or the GIVE tab to donate through this website.

Flowers may be sent to the home of Paula Forbes 23 Pacific Driver, Dover, NH 03820.
