Brian's obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Brian Powell, a distinguished horseman and a beacon of wisdom in our family and community. Born on August 30, 1964, Brian carried his love for the world and those in it until his last breath on October 16, 2024.
Brian was a man of exceptional character, known for his warm and witty personality. His loving nature and caring heart made him a favorite among his friends, family, and community. Brian's everlasting spirit lived in his relentless passion for his animals, appreciating life's simple pleasures, and treasuring each relationship.
Some of his happiest moments were spent riding, training, and caring for his horses. His knowledge reached far beyond the stable; he shared his wisdom both in and out of the horse show and training arena. He also found joy in the company of his trusted dogs and charming chickens. His profound love for these creatures was indicative of his kind and generous spirit.
Brian leaves behind a legacy of horse knowledge and the training of riders both in and out of the show arena. He was a mentor to many and a friend to all. Every time a horse gallops freely, we will feel Brian's spirit and wisdom live on. His love for his animals and his ability to connect with them on a deep and profound level was a testament to his compassionate nature.
His memory will be forever cherished by his sisters, Julie Williams, Kate Okeefe, and Kathy Rountree, and his brothers, Alan Powell and Gene Powell along with many nieces and nephews. His father, Burrell Powell, and his mother, Beverly Newton Powell, predeceased him and we find comfort in knowing they are together again.
Brian Powell was a beacon of love, wisdom, and compassion. His passing is a great loss, but his spirit lives on through the many lives he touched with his kindness and wisdom. We are grateful for the time we spent with Brian and will remember him as the warm-hearted, witty, loving, and caring man he was.
