Brian's obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Brian Long on August 21, 2025. He was born on December 27, 1958. Brian was a man of humor, wit, and charm. He had a deep passion for life, which was shown through in his love for dirt track racing, bowling, playing Sheepshead, working on cars, and frequenting local spots such as the Woodshed and the ICU.
Brian is survived by a loving and vast family; his brother Alan Long and sister in law’s Linda and Paula Long. His sons Jeremy (fiancé Tara) and Ryan Long, his grandkids Kaylee, Cory, Braedy, Tala, Jaxon, NeiQo, Mataya and Skyler, and great grandkids Lincoln and Montgomery. He is also survived by 3 nephews, 2 nieces and many great nephews and nieces.
He is joining his mother Delores Bruss, his step-father Gene Bruss, his father Richard Long Sr., his brother Richard (Dick) Long Jr., his half sister Cheryl Coney, and 1 nephew whom all had preceded him in death. It's a consolation to know that he is reunited with them.
Brian's humor and wit made him a joy to be around. His passion for all things automotive were shown through in his love for cars. His competitive spirit was often on display while bowling and during games of Sheepshead. For Brian, the roar of the engines at the local dirt track race was music to his ears. From an early age he would always be found working on a car and getting it ready for Demos or later in life Stock Cars. You would never see him with clean hands. His favorite hangouts, the Woodshed and ICU, were often filled with his laughter and cheer. He loved going out to see all his friends and family to have a drink and unwind. Brian lived his life to the fullest, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His memory will continue to live on through all his loved ones as they keep his passions and joys alive. His laughter, his love, and his life will never be forgotten. His presence will be greatly missed on the race track, at Sheepshead tables, in local hangouts, the bowling alley, and in the hearts of his family. We will always remember Brian for the full life he lived, the joy he brought, and the love he shared. Rest in peace, dear Brian.
