Brian's obituary

Brian Paul Farrell, 60, of Norwalk, Iowa, passed away at his home on July 14, 2023. He was born on September 2, 1962, in Storm Lake, Iowa to Leonard “Bud” Farrell and Lula (Rassler) Farrell.

Brian entered the United States Navy after graduating high school and proudly served his beloved country for 4 years. Brian's military associations were an integral part of his life, and he embraced the challenges and camaraderie that came with his service. His commitment and dedication to the Navy exemplified his character and unwavering loyalty.

After his honorable discharge from military service, Brian remained in Norfolk, Virginia where he trained in industrial electronics and embarked on a successful career as a service technician for Dynaric, Inc, where he dedicated 27 years of his life. Brian moved to Des Moines in 2019, where he worked at the Des Moines Register until health issues forced him to retire.

Brian was a loving and generous individual, known for his proud role as a father and his upcoming journey into new grandfatherhood.

Brian was a member of Norwalk Christian Church, where he found solace and strength in his faith. His involvement in the church community brought him joy and a sense of belonging.

Brian is survived by his daughter Brynna Farrell, his son Jake Batton and Jake’s three children Charity, Avery and Bane. He was also survived by his brothers, Tom (MJ) Farrell, Dick Farrell, Craig (Mary) Farrell, and Paul (Sue) Farrell, as well as his sister, Jean (Bud) Farrell. Brian was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard "Bud" and Lula (Rassler) Farrell, his brothers Steven and John, and his sister Susan.

Brian will be deeply missed by his loved ones and all those who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will forever be cherished, and his legacy of love, kindness, and dedication will continue to inspire us all.
