Brian's obituary

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Brian Burns, who departed this life on May 11, 2024. Born on April 25, 1968, Brian was a man of great kindness and integrity, outgoing and generously adventurous, with a unique sense of humor. He has sadly left his beloved son, Jesse Burns, who will forever cherish his memory.

Brian's life will be celebrated on May 19, 2024, at 4:00 PM at A-Church, reflecting on a life lived with fullness and joy. Recognized for his love for food, he indulged in favorites such as Steak, Sushi, and Stir Fry, and enjoyed his drinks, particularly Wine and Smoothies.

A lover of literature, Brian spent many hours immersed in the works of Wilbur Smith, C.J. Box, John Jakes, and Ken Follett. His musical taste ranged from The Grateful Dead and Pink Floyd to Phish and Billy Strings, while his favorite movies included "It's a Wonderful Life", "A River Runs Through It", and "Caddyshack". Art was another passion of Brian's, with a particular affinity for Chihuli Glass Art and Trout/Fish Art.

As an ardent sports enthusiast, he supported several teams, including Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Sabres, Denver Broncos, and the Colorado Avalanche. Games brought Brian much joy, with Poker, Leadville-opoly, and Card Games being his favorites. His recreational pursuits were varied and reflected his love for the outdoors. Fly Fishing, Skiing, listening to music, working in the garden, and spending precious moments with friends and family were among his cherished activities.

Brian's preferred forms of exercise were also connected to nature, including Fly Fishing, Skiing, Backpacking, and Rafting. He loved to travel, with Costa Rica, Belize, Jamaica, and fly fishing spots being his favorite destinations. Closer to home, he enjoyed quiet moments at The Arkansas River. His world was colored in shades of his favorite color, Green.

In lieu of flowers, donations are being collected for the "Support Jesse with Expenses" fund. Brian was best remembered for his life lessons which taught us to carry ourselves with integrity and surround ourselves with good family and friends. His lasting accomplishments include catching the largest fish ever on the upper Arkansas River, raising his son, and creating a family legacy on the river.

Brian's legacy will forever be marked by his generosity, kindness, love for family, and endless adventure. Today, the trout in the Arkansas River breathe a sigh of relief, yet his spirit will forever echo in its serene surroundings.
