Brian David Deichl
February 2, 1951 – December 14, 2024
Brian David Deichl, 73, of Puyallup, Washington, passed away peacefully at home on December 14, 2024. Born on February 2, 1951, in Mineola, New York, to Joseph and Edna Deichl, Brian was the youngest of four brothers.
After graduating from Gonzaga University in 1973 with a degree in finance, Brian began a long and successful career with the phone company, Pacific Northwest Bell (now known as Lumen), and retired after 37 years.
Brian met his beloved wife, Gail, in Spokane in 1976, and they married in 1977. Together, they raised three children: Jennifer Deichl, Steven Deichl, and Leah Garrett (Laura Garrett). Brian was also a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren, whom he adored.
Brian cherished staying connected with family and friends throughout his life, maintaining relationships as far back as his elementary school days. He was known for making time for phone calls, visits, and reunions, ensuring his loved ones felt valued and connected.
A devoted family man, Brian was actively involved in his children’s and grandchildren’s lives. He found joy in attending their sports games, choir/band concerts, and dance recitals, as well as supporting their scouting and other extracurricular activities. His presence was a constant source of support and encouragement.
Brian found joy in traveling, exploring the outdoors, attending live music events, playing golf, and cheering on his favorite sports teams. His warmth, humor, and love for life left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Brian is survived by his wife of 47 years, Gail; his children and grandchildren; and his brothers, Rick and Rob Deichl. He was preceded in death by his parents and one older brother, Bruce Deichl.
The family will hold a private celebration of Brian’s life in 2025. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
Brian will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
