Brent's obituary

Obituary: Brent Lamar Clarke

Beloved Brother, Father, Veteran, and Friend

October 17, 1964 – March 2025

Brent Lamar Clarke, a lifelong Brooklyn native and proud U.S. Navy veteran, passed away in March 2025 after a long struggle with illness. He was cared for with devotion by his brother Kevin Clarke, who heartbreakingly passed away shortly afterward.

Born in Brooklyn, Brent attended JHS 263 and graduated from Wingate High School before serving in the United States Navy. Stationed in San Diego, he was deployed to the Philippines, Thailand, Japan, and other destinations, where he developed a love of travel and forged lifelong friendships. Following his military service, Brent pursued dental school before discovering his true calling in fire and security work. He served with distinction in Lower Manhattan, working through the tragic events of 9/11 — an experience that reflected his bravery, resilience, and deep sense of duty.

Brent’s vibrant personality was one of his most memorable qualities. He was outgoing, social, and loved being around people — making him both popular and deeply cherished by friends, coworkers, neighbors, and family alike. Known for his fairness and strong sense of justice, Brent always sought to create balance and equity in the world around him. His astonishing memory for dates amazed those close to him, and his charm was matched only by his quick wit and love for a good laugh.

He was also an avid sports fan who rarely missed a wrestling match, a game, or the chance to talk passionately about his favorite teams. Brent had a unique gift for forming meaningful connections, and his relationships were marked by humor, loyalty, and a special sense of care that touched everyone he met.

Brent is survived by his loving daughter, Jameelah Rasheed, and his brothers Wayne, Terrence, and Brian, who will carry forward his memory with love and pride. He is predeceased by his brother Kevin, whose bond with Brent in his final years was a testament to brotherly devotion.

Brent’s life was a tapestry of service, laughter, resilience, and joy. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit — full of warmth, fairness, and charm — will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
