Brenda's obituary

Brenda Sue Farr, 65, passed away on December 6, 2025, in Shawnee, Kansas. Born on December 23, 1959 in Tucson, Arizona,  Brenda was the beloved middle child of six and a cherished presence in the lives of all who knew her.  She grew up on Airforce bases across the country with her favorite being Hickam in Hawaii. Due to the frequent moves Airforce life requires, her siblings were always her best friends.

Brenda was known for being tough, fun, loving and hilarious. She loved to make people laugh with her sarcastic, brash and candid humor. For many years, Brenda’s home was the gathering place for the entire family — card games every weekend, Chief games, barbeques, birthday celebrations and holidays (or just a Tuesday pork chop dinner if you stopped by during dinner time). Those were some of the best times of our lives and thankfully Kathy, Janet and TJ continued them long after.

Brenda was also very creative and loved doing crafts. She enjoyed good food, going out to eat, comedies and spending time with family.  She was a devoted mom, loving grandma, wonderful sister, fun-loving aunt and a great friend.  One of Brenda’s favorite quotes was: “It will all be okay in the end; if it's not okay, it's not the end.” These words reflect the resilience and hope that defined her outlook on life.

Brenda is survived by 3 children: Shannon (Bryan) Hull, Trina (George) Schneider, and TJ (Melissa) Dubin.

3 grandchildren: Tyler Dubin, Kylin Dubin and AJ Dubin.

5 siblings: Diana Gentry, Kathy Peoples, Janet (Kent) Leitner, Steven Gentry, and Amy (Justin) Gillom. She also held a special place in the hearts of her many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her loving mother, Mary Kathryn Clayton—a loss that left a lasting imprint on Brenda’s heart.

Our big, wonderful family will never be quite the same without our #4. Thank you Brenda for all of the fun, the talks, the tears, the laughter and the memories.

We all love you dearly and you will be deeply missed. Give Mom a big hug for us. See you later.
