I worked remotely with Brandy for many years and was shocked and saddened by her unexpected passing.

I remember a long time ago when visiting with Brandy in person with my young child. A siren passed and they were frightened. Brandy calmly and gently explained to her that the sound of the siren meant someone was going to get help for a person in need. That calmed my child and is one of the many ways, big and small, that Brandy touched our lives in a positive way.

Thank you, Brandy. We will always remember your kindness.

When summer ends.

Phil Cunningham composed this in memory of his friend.

Deepest sympathy, Brandy was a joy to work with.
Rest in Peace my dear friend. You will never be forgotten.  We loved you more than we can ever express and know you loved us too. I will miss our 2 hour phone calls, laughing and catching up on life. Your son's have been so strong, just as you taught them to be. They will forever be the best gift you gave to this world. Miss you and love you my friend.

Brandy was more than a coworker—she was a friend, a mentor, and a guiding light in my life. She offered encouragement when I needed it most and played a huge role in shaping the person I am today. She challenged me to grow, to improve, and to believe in my abilities, even when I struggled to believe in myself.

As a friend, she brought comfort, laughter, and a sense of ease that I will always cherish. I already miss her deeply and feel the loss of knowing she is no longer just a phone call away.

Brandy touched so many lives with her wisdom, kindness, and compassion. She worked tirelessly to make the world around her better—whether by adopting families during the holidays, volunteering in her community, attending meetings to create change, guiding policy improvements at work, or sharing her passion for GIS to better serve others.

Her impact is lasting, and her legacy lives on in all of us who were lucky enough to know her.

My condolences to Brandy’s family and loved ones.

I had the privilege of joining the IT Spatial Services team in 2022 as one of Brandy’s final hires. Before I even started, she took the time to meet with me several times, giving me space to ask questions about GIS within the IT division, explore career paths in the field, and better understand how I could grow professionally.

Once I joined the team, her commitment to my development only continued. Brandy was deeply invested in her work and in the people around her. As someone new to the team during her final year as manager, I often felt overwhelmed by her fast-paced flow, but she consistently made sure I stayed supported and afloat.

Her dedication to GIS and to Pierce County was unmistakable. She cared deeply about doing things thoroughly and correctly, always striving to ensure that everything was completed with care and integrity. She truly gave her best to her work and to those she served.

After her retirement, I also had the pleasure of maintaining a friendship with her, which I deeply valued. It was truly joyful to see her embrace that next chapter of life, especially as she focused her time and energy on her grandchildren and her hobbies. She will be greatly missed.
