Brandon's obituary

Brandon Scott Storey

January 7, 1995 – August 14, 2025

On Thursday August 14th Brandon Storey left this world at 11:10 pm due to a tragic automobile accident.

Brandon left us way too soon and our hearts are forever broken as we will miss our son, brother, nephew, and friend. We take great comfort in the fact that he is now in heaven with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and with all his family that passed before him. Brandon leaves behind his father Daniel Storey, his mother Laurie Storey, his brother Blake and sister Briana, his uncle’s Jon and Chip Storey, his aunt Mary Ellen Storey, and cousins Jared, Eli, JonDavid, and Emmalee Storey. He also leaves behind his life partner Chandler VanGossen and his parents, Jimmy and Stephanie VanGossen. He was preceded in death by his nephew Ethan Storey, grandparents George & June Storey, and Wayne Roberts and Marjorie Hicks.

Brandon was born at St. John’s Medical Center in Springfield, MO on Saturday, January 7th, 1995, at 10:30. He lived in Springfield, Missouri until the family moved to Olathe, Kansas in 2006. He attended Cowden Elementary School. One of the moments the family cherishes from that time is when Brandon won the school talent show in his 5th grade year by playing Fur Elise on the piano.

After the family moved to Olathe, KS Brandon attended Sunnyside Elementary, Chisolm Trail middle school, and graduated from Olathe Northwest High School. Brandon lettered in the marching band at ONW and was first chair saxophone. He really loved playing in the marching band and the jazz band in high school.

After high school Brandon completed one semester of college at Johnson County Community College. In January of 2014, while looking for a part time job, Brandon applied at CarMax. That day changed Brandon’s life. He was so excited because he was hired as a salesman at 19. He poured his everything into that job and it rewarded him by providing him with the finances to accomplish his many dreams. He never worked for another company the rest of his life. Because of his job Brandon was able to experience living in a few different places in the country including Golden, Colorado, Columbus, Ohio, and lastly, Shreveport, Louisiana.

Brandon had a love for the finer things in life, and he worked hard to get those things. He bought his first Mercedes when he was twenty and that was the first of many luxury cars that he enjoyed owning. He loved designer clothes, watches, and shoes. He also loved to travel and was able to experience many places in the US in his young and short life. He loved his trips to the wine country in California, Puerto Rico, and got to go on his first Caribbean cruise this year.

Here is a quote from Brandon in his own words from his journal:

“I love my family and friends as well as my boyfriend Chandler. I also love cars, business, food, coffee, and travel. New technology is really cool and I have a passion for designer clothing. I also love my hometown of Kansas City.”

We will miss Brandon immensely the rest of our lives but are comforted knowing that he is in heaven with Jesus and his family. We can’t wait to see you again, Brandon.
