Bradley's obituary

Bradley Allen James, lovingly known as Brad, passed away on January 18, 2026, at the age of 60, in Manitou Springs, Colorado. Born on May 11, 1965, in Cambridge, Minnesota, Brad lived a life defined by warmth, humor, and a deep love for the people (and animals) around him.

Brad was the beloved son of the late Marlyn and Ramona James. He lived in Minnesota until the age of 13 when his family moved to Fort Myers, Florida. He graduated from Fort Myers Christian School in 1983.

Brad met and married Renee Rodd in Tampa, Florida on November 14, 1999, and they have shared life together for these 26 years. He was a devoted husband who wholeheartedly supported Renee’s passion for plants and her unstoppable urge to rescue animals. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, love, and compassion.

Brad found joy and purpose in his work, especially during his time at Mushroom Monday in Manitou Springs, where he was cherished by coworkers and customers alike, and affectionately called “Mushroom Brad.” Known for his easygoing nature, infectious smile, and quick wit, Brad had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome. His sense of humor—especially his famously cheesy dad jokes—was one of his many gifts.

In his personal life, Brad enjoyed playing video games and prepping, and was always thinking ahead, ready for anything. More than anything, he will be remembered for his generosity of spirit, and his ability to bring lightness to even the most ordinary moments.

Brad is survived by his wife, Renee (Rodd) James and daughter, Ramona James. He is also survived by his stepmother, Pearl (Snyder) James, siblings, Sherry (James) Eichholz and Kevin James, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marlyn and Ramona (Rohr) James, and his sister, Cathy (James) Kelley.

Brad’s legacy lives on in the laughter he shared, the love he gave, and the many lives he touched along the way.

We will miss you, Brad!
