Bradford's obituary
Brad was an alumni of Fresno State University where he completed his Masters Degree in Criminal Justice and met many of his life long friends, including his wife of 33 years, Paula Talbot.
He had a successful career in law enforcement beginning as one of the first two cadets of Hueneme PD. Upon completion of the police academy he was hired with the Ventura Police Department on July 1, 1970. He had many assignments and promotions such as patrol, sergeant, SWAT, watch commander and his favorite, detectives. After 30 years of service he retired on Sept 1, 2000 as a lieutenant. He also took a brief temporary chief position for the City of Mendota. He was proud of his accomplishments and was a humble, kind man and his moral standards and honesty, allowed him to be an excellent police officer.
Shortly after retirement he lost his wife to cancer and moved away from Ventura City to Pine Mountain Club to experience some mountain life. After a few years enjoying the snow and cabin, he moved back to his Ventura home to be with his grandkids.
In his later years, he found happiness with his two daughters Tiffany Talbot and Kelley Bray. He resided with Kelley, her husband Bryan Bray and their four children Kaden, Kyler, Korben and Kynslee. There was not a better, more loving, generous grandpa that ever lived. He enjoyed watching their soccer games, going to their theatre productions, building legos and playing house. Unfortunately he spent many of his final years battling his mobility with his diagnosis, but he enjoyed leather work, being a volunteer at the Police Range, family adventures and a good old fashion car ride.
He is so deeply missed. His wisdom, generosity, kind heart and life stories will live on in his children and grandchildren for many years to come.
Services will be June 5 @ 11am at his church:
St John’s Lutheran Church
1500 N C St
