Bonnie's obituary

Bonnie Carol Berglund Mikels passed away on September 12th, 2025 in Schertz, Texas.

Bonnie was born October 14, 1952 in Lindsborg, Kansas. She was the daughter of Genevieve and Oliver Berglund. She was 1970 valedictorian of Round Rock High School. Bonnie worked 26 years for the State of Texas for Lt. Gov. Bill Hobby at the State Capital and then for Texas Education Agency. In 2005, Bonnie and her partner David Payton moved to Spicewood Texas. She and David were members of the Highland Lakes Master Naturalists. They both worked at bird sanctuaries at Inks Lake and volunteered at school gardens in Marble Falls. She also was a Master Gardener. Bonnie loved being outdoors and had intense interest in flowers, birds, hummingbirds and gardening. She also enjoyed playing the piano(if no one was listening). Bonnie also enjoyed doing large puzzles and usually had 2-3 going at the same time. She loved her dogs Alaphabet, Emmy Lou, and Molly.

She is survived by her son, Chad Mikels and her partner David Payton. She is predeceased by her mom and dad, Genevieve and Oliver Berglund, She is also survived by her siblings: Cheryl and husband Mike Heintze, Susan and husband Larry Nye, Paul and wife Rose Berglund, Valerie Warwick and Mark Berglund. She also had many nieces, nephews and cousins. Bonnie will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was quiet but very knowledgeable with many interests. We celebrate that she is with her heavenly family now.
