Bonnie Jean Duchesne, age 76, passed away on July 4th in Tacoma, WA after a battle with heart failure. Jeanie was born on December 24th, 1945 in Shelton, WA to Wayne and Hazel Burnett. She graduated from Irene S. Reed High School in Shelton in 1964 then married Edward Duchesne in April of 1965, sharing an amazing love story of 57 years. Jeanie had three children Tony, Carolee and Garrett while she and Edward spent the remainder of her life living in Tacoma. While raising her family, she was actively involved as a den mother, volunteering with the PTA and serving her community with Safe Streets. Jeanie worked in sales at Sears for 27 years, then spent several years with REP Electrical and her last 10 years with Brown and Haley. She always found working gave her purpose and loved being known as "The Candy Lady" as she always brought treats to any gathering she attended. She shared close bonds with her sisters Donna Wood and Carol Tafoya, along with Edward's family in Canada and Louisiana. Jeanie also had a love of baking and was an expert seamstress, expressing her creativity by designing many elaborate costumes and custom baby blankets for her 3 children, 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Immediately lighting up any room she entered with her smile, she impacted so many people with her warmth and kindness. Jeanie will be immensely missed by all those that she has left behind. She was one of a kind and to be loved by her was to be truly blessed. Celebration of life to be held at Parkland Lutheran Elementary 120 123rd St South Tacoma, WA 98444 on August 6th at 1PM.
