Bonnie's obituary
Bonnie Brown Remembered
Our beloved Bonnie Brown, of Walled Lake, Michigan passed away of natural causes with her family on Friday, July 19, 2024. Bonnie was predeceased by her son Brian Brown, is loved and missed by her daughters Stacy Brown, and Amy Camerella, and her grandson Nicolas Camerella.
As a zealous sales and advertising executive with The Oakland Press and The Detroit Jewish News, Bonnie was known for her talent in creating advertising campaigns and building everlasting relationships. Her charismatic leadership and knack for making friends ensured that her professional relationships continued long after her retirement.
Bonnie’s favorite job, above all else, was being Nan. She loved the honor of being Nicolas’ grandmother and they shared an extraordinary bond together. Bonnie treasured spending all her time with him whether that involved going to various school functions to cheer him on, helping with homework assignments and/or school projects, going out to dinner or cooking his favorite foods, to having spirited debates about world events. But most of all, she took to heart her sole purpose, and calling, were learning from one another and helping guide him through life.
Bonnie’s selflessness not only touched her family but also the countless people she encountered through her volunteer work. Bonnie was very active with St. Matthews Lutheran School of Walled Lake, Michigan dedicating her time and resources. Additionally, Bonnie served as a Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) volunteer, working within the Michigan court system to support abused and neglected children. Bonnie was a voice for many when they couldn’t speak, a sword and shield for those that needed protection, and above all a genuine loving friend. And for many children, she was the beacon of light, guiding them towards a new life.
Bonnie was passionate about traveling, gardening and music, and her house was filled with Montreux Jazz and Motown. Her soundtrack, like her life, left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew her. Her home was always a welcoming place where you could enjoy a delicious homemade meal, laugh, share, cry and feel right at home. Bonnie found beauty in life’s simple moments and made sure others stopped to appreciate them too. Her radiant smile, contagious laugh, and no-nonsense conversations grounded all of us, making us feel loved, understood and comforted by her friendship.
A pillar of strength and a beacon of love, her absence leaves a tremendous void in all our hearts. To commemorate her incredible journey and the memories we cherish, a Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 26, 2024, at Steven Lelli’s Inn on the Green at 27925 Golf Pointe Blvd., Farmington Hills, MI 48331, from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. We welcome all who knew her to join us in celebrating a truly remarkable woman.
