Bishop Bobsy McDonald Strachan was born on March 8, 1940 in Saint Andrew, Jamaica, West Indies. Bobsy was the ninth of fourteen children of Samuel and Belrona Strachan. He received his childhood education at Mount James Elementary School in Saint Andrew, and went on to study tailoring in Golden Spring. He then worked as a tailor at a factory in Kingston, Jamaica.
