Bobbi's obituary
Welcome
More than anything, Bobbi loved people. Her love for me was immeasurable. I basked in that love, nourished and growing for over 41 years. Bobbi often said, “My Dad and I grew up together,” and she wasn’t wrong. In the beginning, I was raising her, but somewhere along the line, she was raising me.
Her love for me was only overshadowed by her undying love and devotion to her son, Rylan. The third star in her constellation was Dean, the love of her life. Though their time together was far too short, their love and devotion to each other was intense. Dean never left her side, from the start of this horrific tragedy to the very end.
However, Bobbi’s love and devotion did not stop with us. Bobbi’s love was a galaxy, encompassing her adoptive families of the Capps and the Miesner, and her beloved brother (in spirit), Tyler. As well as the countless others that became “Family” to Bobbi after meeting them.
Any story of Bobbi’s love would be incomplete without mentioning her Aramark family, a company she was deeply passionate about. Bobbi was a driving force for improvement in both her people and the clients they served. Aramark finally gave Bobbi a big enough stage for her huge heart, where she could share her immense love with thousands of people, both team members, clients and the associations that she served.
Bobbi’s love language extended beyond food—it encompassed the entire culinary experience, with every detail and nuance planned to perfection. Her other love language was caring for and developing people. Bobbi truly loved her Aramark family and had hoped to write a book about her life, the culture she had developed, and the people she loved, and how they had grown and found balance and joy.
Please share your story—whether big or small—and let us know how Bobbi impacted your life. This is an invitation to contribute your memories of our Wonder Woman, in any way you feel moved to do so.
Bobbi, you were the best of us, you were the best of me.
Always your adoring father, Bob.
Obituary (Thank you Tyler)
Roberta "Bobbi" Elizabeth Capps passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, in Novi, Michigan. She succumbed to complications related to her recent diagnosis of gastric cancer.
Born in San Diego, California, Bobbi always considered herself a native Coloradan. A proud high school dropout, Bobbi earned her GED and began her career in kitchens at the young age of 14. Her journey took a significant turn when she met Mason while working at Old Chicago in North Carolina. Their union brought them their greatest joy, their son, Rylan Miller Capps, born on September 10, 2009, whom Bobbi described as "the most beautiful baby boy."
Bobbi's commitment to personal growth led her back to education, where she pursued and obtained her Bachelor's degree in Organizational Communication from Metropolitan State University of Denver. During her time at MSU Denver, she was actively involved in various honor societies and student organizations, and it was there she formed a lifelong bond with Tyler Antikainen, who became both a valued colleague and a cherished brother.
Following her graduation, Bobbi embarked on a fulfilling career journey, working at multiple organizations where she could make a significant impact. Her dedication and expertise were particularly evident in her role at Summit Learning Partners, where she collaborated closely with her father, Bob Miller, to apply Lean Six Sigma principles.
In 2018, Bobbi joined Aramark as a District Manager, where she met and worked closely with Arin Council, Jason Schweitzer, and Maren Cochrane. Her leadership skills shone brightly as she played a pivotal role in securing the Ford Business in Michigan. This achievement was a testament to her ability to build and inspire exceptional teams. Her career at Aramark culminated in her promotion to Regional Vice President for Workplace Hospitality in the West Region.
Bobbi's pursuit of knowledge continued with an Executive MBA from Michigan State University, where she met Dean Miesner. Despite initial reluctance, Bobbi fell deeply in love with Dean, and their profound connection was evident to all who witnessed their relationship. Dean remains one of the most significant people in Bobbi's life.
Bobbi is survived by her beloved son, Rylan Miller Capps, and her father, Bob Miller. She leaves behind a legacy of love, leadership, and unwavering dedication.
In honor of Bobbi's memory, her family invites those who knew her to share their favorite memories on our tribute page. They also encourage everyone to strive to be the best version of themselves, reflecting the extraordinary potential Bobbi always saw in others.
In lieu of flowers, we are asking that you help fulfill Bobbi's dream of sending Rylan to a great University.
